Porch Construction

Porch Construction
From a simple covered entrance to a fully boarded, oak-framed porch, Wilkins Wood Workers delivers made-to-measure porch construction across Gloucestershire. Each porch is drawn to suit your property, built in our farm workshop by NVQ-qualified joiners and fitted on site to cope with local weather. Structural build, roof and flashings, glazing and final finish are all handled by the same small team. We back every porch with on-site finishing and practical aftercare.

How It Works
Survey & Design
We visit your property to check structure, thresholds and drainage, discuss materials and style, and produce a measured plan and specification tailored to your home.
Workshop Fabrication
Your porch is made in our farm workshop by qualified joiners — frames, doors, mouldings and glazing are pre-cut and pre-finished where possible for a neat on-site fit.
On-site Installation & Aftercare
We complete foundations, frame, roof covering and flashing, finish on site and return for an aftercare visit — re-oiling or adjustments as needed to keep timber performing.
Why Choose us for Porch Construction?
True bespoke joinery
Every porch is designed and made to measure to match Cotswold stone cottages, Victorian terraces or contemporary houses — no off-the-shelf kits.
Built for Gloucestershire weather
Structural detailing, quality timber and proper flashings mean porches resist wind-driven rain and seasonal movement typical in Stroud, Stonehouse and Cheltenham.
Family-run continuity & aftercare
Work is handled by the same small team from our farm workshop — NVQ-qualified joiners with 10 years’ experience and public liability cover up to £5 million.
What we build
Timber-framed porches, enclosed vestibules, glazed entrance canopies and traditional oak porches — all sized and detailed to suit your house. Typical features include a structural timber frame, treated or hardwood thresholds, roof coverings to match your property (slate, tile or sealed glazed units), draught-proofing and purpose-made doors or sidelights. We work with oak, larch and pressure-treated softwoods and recommend appropriate finishes for longevity.
How we work — workshop to site
Work starts with a site survey and measured drawings, then your porch is prefabricated in our family workshop on the farm in Gloucestershire to ensure tight joints and accurate mouldings. On site we handle foundations, damp-proof detailing, lead/flashings where required and careful joinery installation. We advise on planning and building regulation requirements and will liaise with local building control where needed. Every porch includes an on-site finishing visit — oiling, glazing checks and any settling adjustments — and practical aftercare if issues arise.
