Joinery

Joinery
Wilkins Wood Workers delivers handcrafted joinery across Gloucestershire and Stroud, from oak staircases and sash-window repairs to purpose-made cabinets and porch frames. All pieces are cut and finished in our farm workshop, then fitted on site by qualified carpenters with NVQ training and ten years' experience. We specialise in matching grain, traditional joints and durable finishes, and we return for aftercare and re-oiling to keep timber performing.

How It Works
Site survey & measure
We visit your property (Cotswold cottage, Victorian terrace or new build) to take precise measurements, discuss timber species and produce shop drawings before work begins.
Workshop manufacture & finish
Everything is hand-cut in our family farm workshop — frame-and-panel doors, stair parts, bespoke furniture — then sanded, oil-finished or primed ready for installation.
Installation & aftercare
On-site fitting by NVQ-qualified joiners, followed by a finishing visit where we oil, adjust and resolve any snagging; public liability cover up to £5m gives peace of mind.
Why Choose us for Joinery?
Family-run farm workshop
Small team, hands-on owners and continuity of service — you deal with the same craftsmen from survey to aftercare, not a faceless call centre.
True bespoke craftsmanship
Made-to-measure joinery using traditional joints (mortice-and-tenon, dovetail, frame-and-panel) and carefully selected timber to match period details or contemporary designs.
Practical aftercare & insured work
We offer on-site oiling, re-finishing and follow-up visits to keep timber looking right, backed by NVQ-trained staff and public liability insurance up to £5 million.
What we make: From structural joinery such as staircases, barn conversion framework, pergolas, lean-tos, and porch joinery to fine interior work — built-in wardrobes, kitchen panels, skirtings, window sashes and bespoke oak furniture — every piece is produced to measure in our Gloucestershire workshop. We specialise in traditional details for Cotswold stone cottages and sympathetic replacements for Victorian and Edwardian properties, using hardwoods like quarter-sawn oak and carefully prepared softwoods where appropriate.
How we work: After an initial site survey we prepare measured drawings and sample boards so you can see profiles, mouldings and finishes before manufacture. Work is cut and assembled on the farm, then delivered and fitted by our qualified joiners, with on-site oiling or paint finishing. We prioritise secure fixings, correct expansion gaps for seasonal movement and tidy, protected site working. If anything needs attention after installation, we return for scheduled aftercare and maintenance visits.
Serving Stroud, Stonehouse, Cheltenham and the surrounding Gloucestershire villages from our workshop on the family farm.
