About This Service

Door Hanging

Wilkins Wood Workers hangs and aligns internal and external doors across Gloucestershire, including Stroud and Stonehouse. As a small, family-run workshop on a farm we take a selective approach: we accept door-hanging jobs where we can guarantee a high-quality result and tidy sitework. Our qualified carpenters (NVQ Lvl 3 joinery; Lvl 2 carpentry + building) deliver accurate hanging, rebate and frame adjustments, plus on-site finishing and follow-up visits.

Door Hanging
Our Process

How It Works

01

Site assessment & door check

We inspect the opening, check frame squareness, floor levels and the supplied door (thickness, rebate, stile/rail) and advise on necessary prep work.

02

Workshop prep & on-site fitting

If required we trim and plane doors in our farm workshop, prepare hinge and lock mortices, then hang, level and set gaps on site for smooth operation.

03

Finishing & aftercare visit

We fit architraves and stops, oil or seal exposed edges and return for a follow-up to tweak hinges or re-oil joinery as timber settles.

Benefits

Why Choose us for Door Hanging?

Bespoke, hands-on workmanship

A family-run farm workshop means doors are prepared with traditional joinery skills — accurate hinge placement, tight rebates and neat architraves for a lasting fit.

Qualified and fully insured

Operated by NVQ-qualified carpenters with around 10 years' experience and public liability cover up to £5 million for peace of mind on site.

Practical aftercare and finishing

We don’t leave you with a sticking door — on-site oiling, re-finishing and a follow-up visit are offered so timber continues to perform.

What we fit
We hang new and replacement internal and external doors — softwood, hardwood and bespoke made-to-measure doors. Typical work includes rebated exterior doors, internal stile-and-rail doors, trimming for uneven floors, rehanging warped doors and fitting architraves and thresholds for a tidy finish. We work across Gloucestershire, servicing Stroud, Stonehouse and nearby villages from our workshop on the family farm.

How we work
Door hanging is a precision job — we only take on projects where our workshop and follow-up service make a difference. On arrival we measure the opening, check frame fixings and advise whether the door is ready to hang or needs workshop preparation. We can hang doors you supply and will advise on suitable timber, rebated edges and ironmongery; for customers who want supply help we offer guidance on locks, hinges and weatherbars rather than pushing stock. All installations are carried out by trained joiners and covered by our public liability insurance up to £5 million, with aftercare visits available to adjust for seasonal movement.
